Best Road Trip Itinerary from Miami to Atlanta (video recap)

atlanta road tripBest Road Trip Itinerary from Miami to Atlanta

It is challenging to venture out when you are at the South East corner of the United States. The choices are pretty limited, if you don’t have an open mind. We in Miami consider a road trip to be a routine car drive to the Florida Keys. I’m guilty of making the same mistake too. This time I chose to go north; way up north. Here is the perfect road trip itinerary for a seven day road trip out of Miami. You will need a healthy car as our trip took us just 100 miles shy of 2000 miles and approximately 30 hrs of driving. Don’t worry, it seems like a lot but this itinerary breaks it down to a comfortable drive. Below is a can’t miss video revealing how the idea of a road trip was conceived and also highlights this itinerary with breathtaking footage captured with the new GoPro Hero 5 and Karma Grip Stabilizer.

We had the Lincoln MKX Black Label Edition for a week and took it on a road trip from Miami to Atlanta, North Carolina, and back. As beautiful as the scenery is in Northern Georgia and the Smoky Mountains, we can sincerely say that one of the top highlights of the trip was cruising in the unmatched luxury of the Lincoln MKX. The adaptive cruise control was an impressive feature we quickly got spoiled to and fell in love with. It made the 30 hours of driving and approximate 200o miles a pleasure by self adjusting to the speed of traffic even breaking and resuming your pre-set speed when traffic slows down. The Lincoln MKX also sports the most comfortable luxury leather seating with 22-way adjustable massage settings and with heating/cooling options, a feature that came in handy all through out our road trip, specially on the leg back to South Florida.

Road Trip from Miami Itinerary

Day 1 Go Karts in Orlandobest road trip itinerary miami

Miami to Orlando 4 hrs drive

We did something different this time in Orlando other than the obvious theme parks. Keeping with the “Road Trip” theme, we took the kids Go-Kart Racing at Kissimmee Gator Go-Karts

Day 2 Georgia Aquarium and Martin Luther Kings Jr. Birthplace

Atlanta bound 6 hrs drive

We left at 5 am and made it to Atlanta at 11 am just in time to spend 4 hrs at the largest aquarium in the United States and see MLK’s birth place before darkness set in. Tip: if you are heading to the Aquarium park at the Aquarium official  parking its only $10 compared to $30 at other spots.

Day 3 Stone Mountain

20 min drive from Atlanta’s Downtown

We slept at the Comfort Inn in Stone Mountain just 5 minutes from the State Park. We had tickets for the snow rides at Snow Mountain but the weather didn’t cooperate. Yet the scenery, even with the dense fog, was breathtaking. We shall be back.

Day 4 Tallulah Falls and the Smoky Mountains

3 hr drive to Asheville , North Carolina

On our way to North Carolina we stopped at Tallulah Falls in North Georgia. A scenic state park with forest trails and a 399 stair descend to a suspension bridge overlooking the falls. This was one of the kids favorite as they put their muscles to the test. After, we took the scenic Blue Ridge Highway to Maggie Valley N.C. and then Asheville. Tip: A nice and cheap hotel in Maggie Valley is the Ramada Inn which has a creek running through its property.

Day 5 Chimney Rock and Savannah, Georgia

You’ll need 6 hrs for this.

Chimney Rock is only 1 hour from Asheville but you’ll want to experience some of the famous Blue Ridge Highway while you are there, which adds about an hour to the trip.

4 1/2 hrs to Savannah

We stayed in Downtown Savannah at the Comfort Suites. at $126 it was expensive but we wanted something close so we could explore the city. To be fair the Comfort Suites is a 10 minute walk from downtown. They rent bikes for ease and pleasure. We tried going to Paula Dean’s restaurant  Lady and Sons but it was near closing and lucked out  with a great pizza place next door. A bit of rude service but the pizza is really good.

Day 6 St. Augustine

3 hrs drive

St. Augustine is a pleasant surprise of a city. Its charming architecture makes for picturesque settings everywhere as you will see in the video below. We ate at the A1A restaurant overlooking the ocean and enjoying a reasonably priced meal.

Day 7 Unfortunately arrive back home

4 1/2 hrs drive

I really expected this Road Trip from Miami to be a grueling trip. However driving turn out to be a relaxing and mind cleansing experience. A huge reason was the pleasure of driving with the new 2017 Lincoln MKX thank you Lincoln for the loan

It is worthy to note that the Lincoln Motor Company Ended the Year on High Note with 10-Percent Sales Gain in U.S.; China Up Nearly Three-Fold. The U.S. increase comes against a backdrop of a luxury market that gained less than 1 percent.

Growth in 2016 for the brand was particularly robust in key luxury markets like Florida, where sales were up 10 percent in 2016; New Jersey, which was up 9 percent; and New York, where sales increased by 13 percent.

Lincoln closed out the year strong in December, with sales up 18 percent compared to December 2015, driven by the all-new Continental. The Continental was responsible for 64 percent of Lincoln’s growth in December.

Sales of Lincoln Continental in December totaled 1,845, up from November’s 1,419, outselling the Audi A6 and the Lexus GS, according to sales data reported by the respective automakers.

Record sales in China, Lincoln, which first introduced its full vehicle lineup in China in 2015, has now become the fastest growing luxury brand in the country.

Lincoln sold 32,558 vehicles in 2016, nearly a three-fold increase over 2015. Its strong performance was supported by Chinese customers’ positive reception to Lincoln SUVs and the growing number of dealerships, which reached 65 in 2016.

Instagram Photo Bike Tour in Little Havana

This might be the start of something great! I can see in the future someone making a business out of this. The demand is there and so is the quality of the experience. This past Sunday we went on a ride along with fellow photographers from the Instagram community in the revived section of Little Havana. It’s a happening part of town full of locals and tourists who are bused over by double decked buses. The energy in this part of town is electric.

It started as an idea by Marvin aka @Mr.MarvinMiami. We were escorted by Little Havana’s unofficial ambassador @MrMiamiMarvin, who took us around the neighborhood highlights. Oh the bikes! I’m sure you were all thinking that. Yes, Citibike was gracious enough to sponsor the event. They carted over the new Citibikes that are decorated with colorful art by renowned street artist Okuda San Miguel

Keeping it artistic, MrMiamiMarvin took us to The Good Wall of Murals in Little Havana located next to the GoodWill on 8th Street. New to us was the news that there is a famous Banksy just steps away. Relive it with us with the video recap below. Filmed and edited by Harold Rosario of ArtofMiami.com. Damn, GoPro Recalls ALL Karma Drones

Go pro Karma recallDamn, GoPro Recalls ALL Karma Drones

I am a real GoPro fan. I’ve been shooting video with GoPro gear of a few years now and love the ease of use and its innovative ecosystem. When GoPRo’s Karma was announce, I was excited to get my hands on one. Yesterday I finally got the courage to dig into my pockets and pay the $1099 for the Karma Drone  with Hero 5 included. When I got to Best buy, they had a beautiful display of the GoPRo Karma behind plexiglass. I stood their staring at its craftsmanship when some random guy walked up to me and smugly mention that they have all been recalled.  Scared and heartbroken, I confirmed it with the sales representatives and yes its true.

GoPro Has Recalled all of it’s over 2500 Karma Drones that have been sold. The reason has not yet been released but prior to me attempting to by one, video of Karma Drones falling had been posted on YouTube. I dismissed this as an anomaly but its has become  such a safety concern that GoPro did the right thing in recalling them.

Many in the comment sections have speculated that it is a result of faulty batteries suddenly losing the power needed for the motors. When you watch the video’s all have a distinct fading sound of the motors before the drone begins to tilt and finally fall. Check out below some footage of the videos showing a crash of the Karma drone as it narrowly missed hitting an on looker and eerily continues recording his expression.

The good news as far as I’m concerned is that I went ahead the new Hero 5. I’ll be trying it out today and post a review coming up.

The 2017 Lincoln Continental Blogger Event in Miami

The  2017 Lincoln Continental Blogger Event in Miami

The presidential car for over 40 years. Have you seen the new 2017 Lincoln Continental? It has to be the best reboot of a classic we have experience to date. Last Tuesday we were picked up by a private chauffeur and drove around town on the new 2017 Lincoln Continental. Our first stop was at the Mandarin Oriental restaurant where Lincoln Motor Company hosted us to an exclusive showcase. We enjoyed a 5 star lunch alongside other notable bloggers from the Miami area. The vibe through out the event was of respect, that which Lincoln has for the Hispanic market in Miami and the rest of the United States. The attention to detail and luxury for the client was an experience that I wish everyone could enjoy. We can imagine it is a feeling enjoyed everyday by Continental owners.

The Lincoln Experience was broken down into three experiences. First, the scrumptious lunch at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami. Then we had an intimate discussion with Robert Parker (Lincoln); Lily Lopez, President & CEO, South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Robert Lowe, General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Miami regarding exceptional value of service. But our favorite part  was the Photography experience at Little River Studios with Shayna Batya, a behind the scenes look of a successful photo shoot. Not only because photography is  related to art but because we actually got to drive the  2017 Continental. Our short-lived ride from Brickell to Little River was amazing. We can confirm that all the stories you’ve been told about the Continental are true, the car does drive like a cloud. Driving a smooth and stabilized ride on the harsh urban roads of Miami was a rare treat.

Here are some pictures from the Lincoln Continental Event.

  • Robert Parker, Lincoln’s Global Director Marketing Sales and Service, is responsible for expanding and solidifying the brand’s identity in the global market. He comes to the position having served as president of Lincoln China since 2014. Under his leadership, Lincoln sold 11,630 vehicles in China in 2015, its first full year of sales – a record for a new luxury brand in the country.

  • Liliam Lopez, co-founder of the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC), shared some trends she has witnessed leading the local chamber of commerce of the increasing importance of exceptional client experience. She brought to life the importance of the female buyer in the luxury business and the role services such as Lincoln’s recently introduced Pickup and Delivery play in purchasing decisions.

  • Robert Lowe, General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental, spoke to the many awards won by his hotel’s client service, allowing a perfect connection back to the investments being made by Lincoln in its client experience – The Lincoln Way. Exceptional service is what distinguishes a 5-star hotel from a 4-star hotel. As luxury brands, that is the reason that the Mandarin Oriental and The Lincoln Motor Company invests in this important aspect.
  • Shayna Batya (Jenny Abrams) is a Miami based visual artist. Her areas of interest include capturing moments between time, vibrant colors, natural light and her present environment. She specializes in photography, creative direction, filmmaking and visual communication. She has had work published from companies such as Puma, Ted Baker and Stella Artois.
