Miami, FL…August 15, 2017… The Miami Home Design and Remodeling Show in collaboration with Viernes Culturalespresents, “Art Basilando” – an artist encounter exhibit featuring the works of twelve artists from the Little Havana Art District.

The Miami Home Show takes place from September 1-4 at the newly renovated Miami Beach Convention Center.

“Art Basilando” depicts the colorful souls of twelve Little Havana artist who, through different styles and textures, create a cohesive trajectory of heritage, history and artistic expression. The viewer is bedazzled by color and bold imagery, but should look deeper into the artist’s canvas. Unfold the dichotomy of an artist’s soul: worlds past and present; elation and deep sadness; surreal and real; darkness and light.

“We are very proud to have participated in At Home with Art since its launch in 2015,” states Pati Vargas.  “Basilando is of course, a play on words. However, it defines what I think makes Miami’s art community very unique: we are out on the streets creating and communicating our message, while having fun. We love participating at the Home Show because it gives our artists an opportunity to help people understand their work. When they get to know the story behind a work of art, they fall in love with it. No longer is it just something that matches the décor or an investment, it is a connection and understanding between collector and artist.”

(“Basilando” is a slang version of vacilando (vacilar): a Spanish term for the act of wandering when the experience of travel is more important than reaching the specific destination.)

Participating artists are selected through a submission process based not only their abilities in the visual arts, but also their contribution to the South Florida arts community.  To date, over 100 South Florida artists have participated in the Home Show’s #AtHomewithArt artist encounter program.
