2015 Art of Miami “Insta-grammys”

This is our 3rd annual edition of Top Instagrammers in Miami. The tradition first began with the intentions of  helping local artists have a platform, other than Instagram,  to be found. In addition, we show an appreciation and gratitude to those that have inspired us, through their work, to reach for our potential. This year we are introducing categories to the Top Instagrammers List. These categories and its nominees have been developed, in part, with the help of the Instagram community. So without further ado, we present our choice for the 2015 Art of Miami Instagrammys.

When Instagram announce it was “cleaning house” by removing “Fake” accounts from its server, most users saw their followers drop significantly. @Hi_Tola was not an exception. Well kind of, after losing thousands of followers from the “BIG Clean UP” @Hi_Tola was later featured by Instagram and saw his followers grow from 3,000 to a well deserved 200,000. In addition to this remarkable growth Tola’s Instagram feed is a well-rounded mix of brightly edited images and ever so clever captions to compliment them.  @HI_Tola is this Year’s Instagrammer of the Year.

Instagram started with a simple app with filters to edit images and make them extra ordinary. Photoshop, which was once frowned upon among the purists on Instagram , is here rewarded in this category. This category is for the accounts with consistent pics that makes the viewer ask, “how did they do that?’ With out a doubt this old schooler to the Instagram game is the clear winner. Taking a picture at sunset can be a hit or miss, weather is a big determining factor. Add the variables made by attempting it with a drone and OH BOy. Whether the sun peaks out through the clouds or whether you’ll get a blurred out horizon or whether your drone will make it back safely all depends in mother nature. What makes this picture more incredible is how the sun is  setting perfectly on the vanishing point of government cut in Miami, Florida, while over coming those other obstacles. New York has Manhattanhedge, but giving this picture, photographer High Drone has baptized Miami with its own, shall I say “Miamihedge” This epic picture and the countless other of Miami through an aerial perspectives, makes @Hi_Drone the 2015 Drone Account of the Year.

Instagram becomes somewhat of a catalogue of picturesque locations to one’s city. Images that were once stunning when first shared in the beginnings of the social media app, have since been harvested and replicated to the point of exhaustion. The number one played out spot is conveniently located in 1st street. The middle of the city. When you stand on the corner of SE 1st street and Biscayne avenue, you can almost feel the ghosts of past Instagrammers that have frequented this spot. But one Instagrammer took this “played out” location and made it his own with a moving tribute to 9/11. For this reason @Spore_One in this years most Creative Shot.
