Peanut Butter & Jelly Burger a Must Try at Rok Brgr South Miami
So what’s so creative about the new location of the trendy Rok Brgr restaurant in South Miami? Well, let’s first start out by introducing some of the creative, Miami Heat inspired, titles for their burgers, like the D Wade, Morning Glory, The Bosh Burger and the King James. Now, for the most creative of them all, the just launched “Peanut Butter and Jelly Burger” or more appropriately titled, the Fat Elvis. We recently attended a tasting event at Rok Brgr for a preview of the newly added menu items at its South Miami Location. The tasting showcased four of Rok Brgr’s newly developed burgers along with two new dessert items.
First lets start with the burgers. All were presented as miniature versions of the original size, for a better tasting pleasure. What set these apart from any other burger I have tasted was really the topping. Creatively paired and all seemed to play with combining the sweet with the salty. First was the SOMI Burger topped with brie and house made fig jam. Our Second Favorite. Then, there was the Spicy Crunch. Good but not note worthy. The Lamb Burger has a fresh “gamey” taste and was the most tender of all. It comes with a mint yogurt topping and feta cheese. Now comes our favorite and the one that makes great copy, The Fat Elvis or how we at the table affectionately called it, the Peanut Butter and Jelly Burger.
The Fat Elvis Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich is actually topped with, not jelly but local strawberry jam and a creamy dose of peanut butter. Oh, forgot about the thick cut of pepper smoked bacon. The pairing of all these sweet and salty flavors and the unexpected surprised when it actually tastes good makes the Fat Elvis at Rok Brgr must. Kudos to chef Robbyns Martinez and the Rok Brgr crew for this creative culinary creation.
