HIGHLIGHTS OF ART WYNWOOD 2014 (PHOTO RECAP 48 pics)

BOTEROS, ESQUIVELS, JENKINS AND HIGHLIGHTS OF ART WYNWOOD 2014

Had the pleasure to attend the VIP ceremony for Art Wynwood 2014. Thinking it was going to be a smaller event than its parent fair Art Miami, I expected to get premium parking. However, attendance to the event was incredible causing the parking to be scarce. The great turn out produce an excitement in the air that was contagious. Memo to self for next year’s Art Wynwood: dress artsy as it is almost expected. (plus its fun!)

Other than lots of Boteros all over. Art Wynwood’s highlight were many.

Now Contemporary headlined the show with Augusto Esquivel and Federico Uribe’s work, located at the beginning of the fair. Particularly the work of August Esquivel, his art made of suspended buttons, has evolved to images of vintage American icons. Esquivel was at the event.  Friendly as always, he chatted and joked with the audience in attendance.

Fabien Castanier Gallery exhibit the highly interactive installations by Mark Jenkins. His life installations were the photo-op of the night.

The Cracking Art Group whose “pink snails” can be seen all over our city are exhibiting as part of Ca’ D’oro Gallery. Their current work is on display. So are mini versions of their famous pink snails for $1400.

Flowers Gallery NY had the work of Patrick Hughes whose interactive surrealistic paintings drew crowds.

Take a look a the Art Wynwood  2014 catalogue for a glimpse of the art.
