MIAMI, Fla. – (Nov. 7, 2012) – Lila Nikole, fashion designer for upscale swimwear line Lila Nikole Collection, and her business partner actress/activist Aisha Thalia, will host the inaugural Fusion fashion event on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m., at the L.M.N.T Art Gallery, located at 59 NW 36 St., in Midtown. The event will benefit Art Studio Miami, a public arts program, and introduce the pair’s new charity program, Project Save Imagination, which supports students with an avid interest in the arts and music but lack the funds or opportunities to pursue their dreams.
“The goal of Project Save Imagination is to raise fund for underprivileged children and boost public arts programs that have suffered from budget cuts,” said Lila Nikole. “Without art, music, fashion and theater, these students are unable to fully realize their greatness and potential. Project Save Imagination grants them that opportunity.”
Taking place during Art Basel 2012, “Fusion” is a funky, fashion-forward mash-up fundraiser that will combine a silent auction, enthralling live musical performances, an art to wear fashion show, fine art gallery displays, and the attendance of top models and celebrities.
The event will be hosted by Malik Yoba, Claudia Jordan, Anchal Joseph and Lorenzo Ice T Thomas. Music will be provided by Talib Kweli, Urban Mystic, Kulture Shock, DJ Epps, DJ Rob Dinero and Bonnie Beats. Participating artists include Sean Paul, Laurence Gartel, Maicol Diaz, Trek 6 and Jenny Perez. Throughout the event, there will be fashion exhibits from Art of Shade, Lisu Vega, and the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, which is sponsoring the event along with Sobe Entertainment, Tiffany Nieves-Cook Productions, Rush Sound, Nuvo, V Georgio, Paul Mitchell, Now Marketing, 2 Girls and a Cupcake, City Never Sleeps, and the founders themselves, Lila Nikole and Aisha Thalia.
Event proceeds will benefit Art Studio Miami, a public arts program that shares much of Project Save Imagination’s goals, with monies raised helping to advance sponsorship and implementation of art integration in impoverished communities and schools. Ticket prices are $30 at the door or presale at www.saveimagination.org/
