ARE THERE TOO MANY ART WALKS IN MIAMI? DOWNTOWN ART DAYS 9/7-9/8/2012

downntown miami art walkIn September the launch of the DWNTWN Art Days will take place. This will make it the 10th “Art Walk” themed like event in our wonderful city of Miami. (you know I have to through some Miami pride in all my posts) Recently Brickell contributed to Miami’s growing status as cultural Art Mecca with an art walk of its own called BAW. That lead me to question whether there too many art walks in Miami? Or perhaps “el sol brilla para todos. (a spanish proverb which translates to ” the sun shines for everyone.” My concern is simply that too many art walks would spread the audience and thus dwindle the turn out for everyone. Eventually, this would lead to a decline in interest to attending all art walks.

I think that if there are to many walks some will fade; nevetheless, the problem is not to many art walks but to many people with money not buying art.
It is great to see many events in many sectors of the city… I personally like the art walks but some like wynwood are becoming a circus with some of the galleries closing that night… so I hope they dont fade, I love the Bird Road Walk and had a great time at the Brickell Art Walk.

I personally like that Wynwood has become a “circus.” What I mean is that it is not for the elite any more. Art is being exposed to all walks of life. However, it is like you said. At the end of the day it is a business. It is about selling art for the gallery and artist. Good point Santiago.
