MIAMI’S OWN MANUEL CARBONELL DIES AT AGE 93

You have seen his work every time you cross the Brickell bridge or taken a stroll through Bayside. His internationally acclaimed sculptures has brought recognition to our city. Manuel Carbonell died this Thursday, Nov. 10,2011. My favorite piece by Manuel Carbonell is the 53 foot sculpture that stands at the Brickell bridge in downtown, entitled “The Pillars of History.” As you can tell it also makes up the “i” in artofmiami.com’s header. Manuel Carbonell died at the age 93. Thank you Manuel for making our city a better place to live, drive and look at..     Hello, I am the Director of Operations at Beaux Arts gallery, which is the Trustee of the Estate of Sculptor Carbonell. First and foremost, thank you for posting such a nice tribute to Carbonell. However there is a mistake, this photo of Julia Tuttle you have placed with him is Not his. While it looks similar to the bas relief on the Brickell Avenue Bridge, this is not his piece, if there is some way to remove it it would be best for both artist. Should you require more authority on this please do not hesitate to contact me.
